Plateau of the Ages
Oregon's acclaimed ambient art-doom nature-metal band could use an editor: The three tastiest (and most serpent-themed) cuts here, all rustic as newborn dew on the forest floor and lasting around three minutes, are also the three shortest. The most intriguing longer track might be "Celestial Effigy," some sort of pagan goth pop for electronic bodies. But mostly the compositions just mosey along morosely, evolving at a sleepy snail's pace as demons below the floorboards start to grumble. The 12-minute-plus "Plateau of the Ages," however, does eventually open up it heart and let the sunshine in.
