Tales Of The New West by Beat Farmers

Although the Beat Farmers were lumped in with the cowpunk movement, their mishmash style encompassed everything from rockabilly ("Lost Weekend") to heartland-style rock ("Bigger Stones," "There She Goes Again") to country humor ("California Kid," "Happy Boy"). Along with their varying styles, the Beat Farmers featured two distinct singers — the deep-throated Country Dick Montana and the sweet-voiced Buddy Blue — which made it difficult to pigeonhole them or clearly define their sound. It was Montana and his humorous, downright campy songs that gained the greatest traction; years later, the oddity known as "Happy Boy" would become the band's trademark song.
