About Belinda Carlisle
Everybody loved Belinda Carlisle as the cuddly, cute Archie Comics version of a punk rocker that she was with the Go-Go's. Then she hit the gym and re-emerged in 1986 as a chart-topping adult contemporary and dance pop diva. Except for a couple of swell Go-Go's reunions, the '90s weren't as kind to her as the end of the Reagan decade, when she racked up a string of hits like "Mad About You" and "I Get Weak." A Woman and a Man (1996) put out some misty, Stevie Nicks style melodrama with what passes for honest emotion. We still miss the chubby Go-Go girl, but her solo work is finally starting to sound like more than just an excuse to make music videos of Carlisle running slo-mo down a beach.
