You Haven't Seen the Last of Me
Label: Warner Records
Is it possible NOT to give a Cher album a queer reading? Let's just say you don't put out 26 albums without finding your niche, and Cher's first in 12 years is a glorious exploration of hers: ferocious femme-centric dance-pop; uplifting power jams echoing with house beats and longing; sweeping ballads ready for their close-up with your hairbrush-mic ("Sirens"). Then the banjo comes in (no, really -- and it rocks). And then "Dressed to Kill" serves up ABBA-riffic disco-pop. Throw in Jake Shears cameos, songs by Pink and Timbaland and all that Cher snarl, and you'll be grabbing for your wig.
