Peacemaker by Clarence Clemons

Clarence Clemons

Play on Napster
Peacemaker, originally released in 1995, is easily the most idiosyncratic album in the Big Man's discography. The saxophonist consciously distanced himself from the E Street Band's Jersey Shore sound while producing a set of modern pop-jazz steeped in world rhythms and new age cool. Clemons' playing is uncharacteristically smooth and meditative. What's more, he is oftentimes content with taking a backseat to the myriad permutations of percussion that mark each track. Fans of the globally conscious sounds of Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon and even Mickey Hart would be wise to explore this record.
