On the aptly titled Southern Style, Rucker sings of Southern girls with "long-stemmed legs and cowboy boots" on "Homegrown Honey," and "sun-kissed hair and not much make-up" on "Southern Style." Meanwhile, on "You Can Have Charleston," Rucker excels at evoking beautiful images of his hometown, all in the context of a break-up song. Another standout, the autobiographical "So I Sang," is a stirring song about playing to your strengths and finding your place in the world. As usual, Rucker sounds most authentic when he's singing from the heart.
