The Traveling Kind
After 2013's acclaimed Old Yellow Moon, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell jumped back in to co-write the lion's share of the songs on The Traveling Kind and record them in under two years. With a relaxed and confident air, their songs bloom under subtle and slightly warbling harmonies. And it's exactly those harmonies -- and the weeping steel guitar -- on the ardent "You Can't Say We Didn't Try" that makes it such an absolute heartbreaker. Other highlights include the easy, chug-a-lug beat of "Bring It on Home to Memphis" and the sassy, foot-stomping "If You Lived Here You'd Be Home Now."
