In a city renowned for gadflies that make pop-rap weirdness, Future stands out. The ATLien used to be a Dungeon Family protégé, but only an introduction from Big Rube on Pluto hints at those days. Now, he strains and flattens his voice so it sounds like an Auto-Tune effect on "Magic," parodies Al Pacino's gruff bark on "Tony Montana," and shouts out coke-rap clichés on "Same Damn Time." It's hard to tell if he's joking, which is why it's so memorable. Pluto is split between those oddball songs and, less effectively, semi-serious forays into urban pop via "Astronaut Chick."
