On paper Days Are Gone shouldn't work: Fleetwood Mac-style '70s pop + '90s R&B + indie tribal pop. But hey, theory and practice are vastly different beasts. What the Haim sisters prove is that they possess -- even at this early stage in the group's career -- full command of their vision. Because four singles were pulled even before the album's release, many ears are going to be familiar with a good portion of its 12 tracks. Still, there's plenty to explore, like "Honey & I," a fusion of Afro-pop guitar chop and shuffling drums that would make Lindsey Buckingham proud.
