Thick As A Brick 2
Label: Parlophone UK
Forty years after Thick as a Brick helped push progressive rock into the mainstream, Jethro Tull leader Ian Anderson revisits the story of protagonist Gerald Bostock. A lot of time has passed for the once-young poet and boy genius: existential crises, cozy domestic life, and perpetually nagging "what-ifs, maybes and might-have-beens." Exactly why Anderson didn't credit this record to Tull is anybody's guess; nevertheless, longtime fans will enjoy the deftly crafted mix of British folk and classic rock moves. The production is too clean and digital at times, but the ensemble play is tight.
