Love Don't Change
Label: Def Jam
When your claim to fame is a massive hit called "Birthday Sex," things can only go up -- or down. On one hand, "Birthday Sex" was, while cute and addictive, kind of dumb. Jeremih spends the first half or so of album two trying to recreate his panty-dropping past, resulting in some overly literal lyrics, limited melodies and generally rather bland tracks. Then, around "The 5 Senses," he starts stretching his thin tenor over some fascinating beats (the gossamer "Holding On"; and is that a Turkish kanun on "Sleepers"?!). On the other hand, nothing here screams smash like "Birthday Sex."
