Life as We Know It
Label: 4 Star Records
Where the song "Life as We Know It" spits truisms about the modern condition (it's "not all black or white/ not all right or wrong"), the album fills in the details. "Pretty Good Day" celebrates the little things, and "The Countdown," much like past hit "My Front Porch Looking In," narrates the singer's long trip home. Tearjerker "Just the Rain" concerns the deceased spouse whose presence is felt everywhere, while barnburner "How Can She Be Everywhere" follows the runaway bride who's always raining on his parade. Like much of contemporary country, it's all very ordinary, only more so.
