The blues suffer no shortage of classic studio recordings, yet the music has always been rooted in live performances. Oddly enough, this is Ball's first live album since kicking off her solo career way back in the mid-'70s. Fans right now are shouting, "Hallelujah, Marcia. Finally!", because the multifaceted piano player has always been revered for her sweaty gigs, a mix of Texas bravado and swampy guile. Pay special attention to the Newman cover, "Louisiana 1927"; it rocks.
