Big Bad World
Label: Hollywood Records
Wipe that "where the hell is Delilah?" look off your face, mister! Though the pop (punk?) band revisits the acoustic lilt of their breakthrough with "1, 2, 3, 4," they mostly deliver catchy, durable rockers (the '80s-shaded "Natural Disaster" or horn-dressed bounce-along of "Serious Mistake") to prove the pony knows more than one trick. The streamlined writing and full production make the whole package a sight savvier than any past effort. "Someday" closes the record by looking beyond Warped-generation templates to emo crossovers like Jimmy Eat World and Sunny Day Real Estate.
