Roses by The Cranberries

It's been a long time since The Cranberries released an album of new material -- over a decade, to be more precise. Their fans will most definitely enjoy the results. Roses is a successful attempt at turning back the clock to the early 1990s, back when the group specialized in jangle pop and not big-rock angst a la the "Zombie" years. Reminiscent of The Sundays, this music is shimmering, dreamy and smeared in melancholy. Dolores O'Riordan's laser-accurate voice --which is absolutely ageless -- comes cloaked in flowing layers of reverb and subtle touches of electronica that are never intrusive.
