Old Man Going
The Pretty Things

While the Beatles were recording Sgt. Pepper's and Floyd were working on Piper, Pretty Things were creating this, the first rock concept album. Following the awful life of a man from birth, through adolescence and a stint in the army, to the loneliness of old age and pointless death, the band pulls out all the stops, using every single gadget and sonic gimmick known to man in 1967. The results are the flip-side of the psychedelic movement -- pure pop machine gun bullets sketching bad trips, hairy freak-outs and pure negativity. A major effect on Tommy and The Wall.
