The Praise (12" Extended Version)
Label: Nervous Records
Todd Edwards' distinctive house style was a staple in New York house clubs throughout the 1990s, but the New Jersey producer's reach didn't end with the Tri-State area: His bumping, jacking drums and hooks were major influences on overseas dance-pop crossover acts like Basement Jaxx and Daft Punk, while his delirious sense of swing and choppy vocal samples provided the blueprint for the tight syncopations of U.K. garage. This compilation collects his singles for New York's Nervous label. As a title like "Break Smooth" suggests, you'll rarely hear music this chunky sound quite so fluid.
