After 2003's downer 12 Memories, Fran Healy and company have the spring back in their step -- as springy as Travis get, anyway. The Boy With No Name is classic Travis: The songs are bittersweet slices of life set to delicate, jangly pop music that often percolates to rousing anthems. "Battleships" highlights exactly how much Healy's falsetto adds to the melancholy nature of the songs, while "Selfish Jean," an up-tempo rocker, evokes shades of the Smiths. The Boy With No Name isn't as strong as the drop-dead gorgeous The Man Who, but it's hearty enough.
