Its lascivious bleacher-beat bubble-rap-metal title smash notwithstanding, 1990's Cherry Pie was Warrant's first attempt to "get serious." Tracks tend toward a dark, often rustic, mood: back-porch-picked witness-protection murder mystery "Uncle Tom's Cabin," devastating betrayal ballad "I Saw Red," locomotive Blackfoot cover "Train, Train," slightly spooky blues-rocker "Blind Faith," talk of dead-end streets in "Bed of Roses"; "You're the Only Hell Your Mama Ever Raised" even inverts a Johnny Paycheck title. But none of that stops "Love in Stereo" from craving two girls for every boy.
